Elrond is good at fighting in the same way a motivated teenager gets good at tests and exams so they can get into university.

Does he enjoy it? Hell no. Some part of him might be proud at his skill, but he doesn’t enjoy that he has to be.

Does he practice like mad and get good because it’s do or die? Yep.

Ruling is more like being decent at driving. It’s an essential life skill (for his specific situation), he’ll get good at it, and he does enjoy it to an extent, but he won’t necessarily miss it until he needs something that comes with it (convenience, in the case of driving, or real power/authority, in the case of being a lord).

His preferred day job is healing. Ironically this makes him better at fighting, the skill he actually doesn’t care for.

Elrond is usually in the role who taking care for others but when it comes to himself, I think it’s kinda hard because he has a deep background and history and all….so I just thought that even the person seems like they’re always doing a very good job at holding themselves together, can even show their true feelings. It’s OK to be sad, to miss someone, to be who you are.
